Water parks are the most popular during the summertime, but that doesn’t mean the fun should stop there. There are ways by which you can make your next water park outing extra special with a bit of creativity and a whole lot of amenities in an awesome destination.

Whether you’re planning for an extraordinary ladies’ day out or just want to spend some quality time with the people you love, here are seven games and activities you can try to make your water park experience more memorable:

  1. Slip-and-Slide Double Lane Race

Slides are commonplace in water parks. Not only do they serve as an attractive addition to the landscape, but they also serve as a great avenue for fun and games. In fact, slides make the classic slip-and-slide game more exhilarating for the young and young-at-heart alike.

All you need to do is challenge an opponent for a duel, arm yourself with a sliding mat, and race away! As with any other race, the first to get to the bottom wins.

Some water parks offer double-lane slides that are perfect for this game. You can also find others with extra twists and turns to make the competition more challenging and exciting at the same time.

This activity is great for raising competitive spirits. However, you need to do it according to the water park management policies to avoid any untoward incidents.

  1. Water Gun Tag

Water gun tag is much like the popular game “laser tag.” As with the latter, this game entails splitting the group into two opposing teams. The only difference is that both are armed with water guns instead of lasers.

To add more thrill to the game, you can incorporate hide-and-seek rules into it. The goal is to try and squirt the other team within an allotted period. The team with members that are mostly dry wins the game.

  1. Jump Rope Water Splash

In this activity, you would need two things for each participant: jump ropes and water-filled plastic cups.

Two players are assigned to twirl the jump rope while the others remain on standby as jumpers. Each jumping player holds a cup full of water during the game. Once ready, the players would try to avoid spilling water while making three consecutive jumps — the one who keeps water in their cup the longest wins.

  1. Water Balloon Dodgeball

Water balloons are probably the most used item in water-based games. While many use this particular toy, one popular choice in water parks is water balloon dodgeball.

To play, start by dividing all the participants into two teams. Each team should have an equal number of players and water balloons.

When ready, the teams are assigned to an area on different sides within a safe distance from each other. When the game commences, members of each team will try to hit their opponents with water balloons. Once hit, a player is out of the game.

This continues until all the water balloons are gone. The team that has the most players remaining is declared the winner of the game.

  1. Leaky Water Balloon Toss

Another water balloon game you can try is the leaky water balloon toss. As the name implies, this involves a water balloon that is gradually leaking water. But there’s more to it than that.

To prepare, fill up a water balloon with water and poke holes in it using a safety pin. Then, the players stand in a circle, each taking turns in tossing the balloon to other players. The goal is to avoid holding the balloon when it runs out of water.

  1. Surf’s Up!

Who says you can only go surfing on the beach? Some water parks offer a special kind of pool that creates artificial waves, so you can definitely add that to your weekend water park to-do list. The best part is, some water parks have the facilities to make this activity safe to do, whether you’re a professional surfer or a beginner.

You can even make it into a competition by figuring out who can stay on their board the longest.

  1. Invisible Water Bottle Retrieval Race

This activity is more challenging than most diving games because players need to look for a camouflaged water bottle instead of the usual coin, diving bricks, or keys.

Begin by filling a clear plastic bottle with water. Choose a bottle that can hold two liters of water and has a cap that has the same color as the swimming pool tiles.

Then, toss it into the pool while the players are lined up on the side of the pool facing the other way. This is so they cannot see where the bottle lands.

Once they hear the splash from the bottle hitting the water, the retrieval game should commence.

What makes this activity extra challenging is the camouflaging effect of the water-filled clear bottle under the pool. Thus, making it seem “invisible” underwater.
