The DS Group, with its deeply embedded commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), is making a significant difference in various communities across India. This commitment is rooted in a set of core values and a foundational belief in collective good, making CSR an essential component of their business objectives.

DS Group CSR activities are driving change in communities through:

  • Water Conservation: Understanding the crucial role of water in sustaining life and livelihoods, the DS Group has initiated various projects aimed at conserving and managing water resources. These initiatives not only help in preserving the environment but also ensure that communities have continuous access to clean water.
  • Livelihood Enhancement: The Group places a strong emphasis on enhancing livelihoods. This is achieved through skill development programs and initiatives that provide communities with the tools and knowledge needed to improve their economic situation.
  • Education: Recognizing education as a key driver of social change, DS Group has invested in educational programs and infrastructure. By improving access to quality education, they are opening doors to new opportunities for the younger generation.

Through these concerted efforts, DS Group India is not just fulfilling its CSR obligations but is actively contributing to the creation of a more equitable and sustainable future.

Here are some of the initiatives by DS Group:

Water Economic Zone, Udaipur

In 2018, the ‘Creation of Water Economic Zone’ project was initiated to boost the natural resources of water and soil in Udaipur, enhancing area productivity. Partnering with ‘Mahan Seva Sansthan’ and ‘Arpan Seva Sansthan’ for the Alsigarh and Kurabad Watershed areas, this project impacts over 23,000 tribal individuals across 26 villages, spanning around 11,000 hectares.

Focused on regions with low-yield, rain-fed agriculture and severe soil erosion, the project aims to improve livelihoods through the development of water resources and value addition in farming activities. To date, 311 structures for soil and water conservation, including Anicuts, Mini Percolation Tanks, and Recharge Pits have been constructed by DSL.

Avartansheel Kheti, Bundelkhand

DS Group CSR has embarked on a transformative Livelihood project in Bundelkhand, focused on empowering around 3,300 farmers towards self-reliance and resilience in agriculture. The initiative introduces ‘Avartansheel Kheti,’ a sustainable form of organic farming that significantly reduces reliance on external inputs like seeds, water, and pesticides.

This approach not only fosters self-sufficiency among farmers but also equips them with techniques for climate-proof farming, aligning with DS Group’s commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment.

Skill Development Centre in Noida

DSL, in collaboration with Niveda Foundation, has spearheaded a project in Noida’s Chaura and Nithari villages to enhance skill development and generate livelihood opportunities. This initiative focuses on training 120 women from underprivileged backgrounds in various non-farm skills, including industrial stitching and block printing, thereby empowering them with valuable expertise for sustainable livelihoods.

Adharshila School, Madhya Pradesh

DSL is actively supporting the ‘Adharshila Shiksha Samiti’ in operating a Senior Secondary School dedicated to the Sahariya Tribes in a remote area of Sheopur district, Madhya Pradesh. This initiative focuses on providing quality education to approximately 220 students, preparing them for advanced studies.

Originating as a means to empower tribal communities relocated from the Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary, this project has expanded its impact. Previously, DSL supported 10 Satellite Resource Centres, fostering educational development among the Seheriya tribal community, with 488 students benefiting from this endeavour, illustrating DSL’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for marginalized communities.

Conclusion

In conclusion, DS Group’s CSR initiatives demonstrate their profound commitment to societal development. From water conservation and enhancing livelihoods to education and skill development, they are not just meeting CSR obligations but actively enriching lives and communities. Their efforts signify a stride towards a sustainable and equitable future, truly embodying their ethos of collective good and community upliftment.
